Washington, D.C. —Donald Trump has appointed tech mogul Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy to co-lead a newly created federal agency, the Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E.). The department’s mission is to reduce government bureaucracy, eliminate wasteful spending, cut excessive regulations, and restructure federal agencies to improve efficiency.
Trump praised Musk and Ramaswamy as “wonderful Americans” who will bring much-needed change to the federal government. “They will restore efficiency and cut down waste,” Trump said in a statement. Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, emphasized that their work would “send shockwaves through the system” by addressing government inefficiency and waste.
D.O.G.E.’s primary focus will include regulatory reform, slashing unnecessary spending, and streamlining federal agencies. Musk and Ramaswamy plan to introduce private-sector best practices to improve government operations, bringing a data-driven, results-oriented approach to federal services.
While the announcement has received support from those advocating for government reform, critics have raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest due to Musk’s business dealings with the federal government. However, the new department’s leaders remain committed to tackling long-standing inefficiencies and transforming the way government functions.
The success of the department’s initiatives will likely be watched closely as Musk and Ramaswamy begin their work in reshaping the federal bureaucracy.
