Denzel Washington, the legendary Oscar-winning actor, has hinted at a major role in the upcoming Black Panther 3, marking a potential Marvel debut for the 69-year-old star. During a promotional interview for Gladiator II in Australia, Washington casually revealed that director Ryan Coogler is writing him a part in the highly anticipated sequel. This announcement came alongside other big roles he’s planning to take on before retiring, including portrayals of Othello, the Carthaginian general Hannibal in an untitled Netflix film, King Lear, and a project directed by Steve McQueen.

Washington’s involvement in Black Panther 3 would be a significant moment for Marvel fans, as it would also be a nod to his connection with the late Chadwick Boseman. Washington helped finance Boseman’s acting education, indirectly supporting the original 2018 Black Panther. While no official confirmation has been made regarding Washington’s role, his comments have fueled excitement for what could be an iconic addition to the MCU.

With Gladiator II generating Oscar buzz, it’s clear Washington is still at the top of his game and making careful choices as he approaches his 70s. His announcement has certainly left fans eagerly anticipating his next move.
