West Ham is set to finalize the signing of a young striker with 17 career goals amid ongoing links to Taiwo Awoniyi.

United’s search for a striker in the January transfer window is nearing its conclusion, with an announcement of a new forward imminent. According to sources, the Hammers have reached an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Evan Ferguson on a straight loan until the end of the season.

Despite being a highly talented player, the 20-year-old Ferguson has struggled for playing time this season, with only four starts in all competitions. His imminent signing means that out-of-favor Nottingham Forest forward Taiwo Awoniyi is unlikely to join West Ham during this transfer window.

Nottingham Forest has made it clear that the Super Eagles star will remain with the club unless they secure a replacement in the winter transfer market. As the transfer window closes, the two-time European champions have yet to sign a new forward.

Awoniyi has found it difficult to break into the starting lineup due to Chris Wood’s impressive form, which appears unlikely to change for the remainder of the season. Wood scored a sensational hat-trick as Nottingham Forest thrashed Brighton & Hove 7-0 on Saturday, bringing his tally to seventeen goals in twenty-four Premier League matches.

Since Forest’s 3-0 defeat to Arsenal on November 23, Awoniyi has not started a Premier League game and has made his next ten top-flight appearances from the bench.
