Donald Trump has announced his decision to waive his $450,000 annual salary if he secures a second term in office. In a recent interview, Trump emphasized his commitment to leading without financial compensation, framing it as a personal sacrifice for the greater good.

“I’m not taking a salary as president—just like I didn’t before,” Trump stated. “I’ve given up a significant amount of money, and it’s surprising to me that almost every other president in history has accepted their pay. George Washington may have been the exception, but no one’s certain about that.”

When asked about any pension benefits he might have received, Trump was quick to respond, “I don’t think I’ve accepted anything. It’s not about the money for me. The $450,000 annual salary is something I’m happy to pass on, though I never got recognition for it. It’s surprising that no other president, even wealthy ones like Roosevelt or Kennedy, did the same.”

Trump’s statement has drawn attention internationally, with observers noting his efforts to portray himself as a president focused on service rather than personal gain.
