In a shocking act of theft, suspected thieves have broken into the Celestial Church of Christ, Testimony Parish, located in the Elerumoke area of Egbeda, Oyo State, stealing two cows meant for the church’s upcoming “Adult Harvest Thanksgiving Service.” The cows, valued at approximately N2 million, were taken just days before the event was scheduled to take place.

The theft occurred last Saturday night, after the church’s shepherd-in-charge and other prominent leaders had retired for the evening. The church members, who had been preparing for the celebration, were stunned when they discovered the cows were missing. Church leader Oluso Ayo confirmed the incident, stating that the animals, which had been tethered on the premises, were untied by the thieves.

Investigators found footprints leading away from the scene but were unable to determine where the cows were taken. Ayo mentioned that while similar incidents had occurred in the neighborhood before, this was the first such theft at the church itself.

A church member, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed disbelief at the audacity of the crime, saying, “If thieves can target a church, where is truly safe in this country? This is unheard of—such a theft in a sacred space is a further sign of the growing insecurity in the nation.”
