The bitter rift between Nigerian music duo P-Square has once again intensified, with Rudeboy (Paul Okoye) accusing his twin brother, Mr P (Peter Okoye), of stealing his song “Winning”—a track that was originally planned for his solo album next year.

On Friday, November 8, 2024, Rudeboy took to Instagram, accusing Mr P of releasing a song that was “written and sung by Rudeboy” and produced by the same collaborator they had both worked with in the past. The song, “Winning,” which Mr P had just unveiled as a new release, was reportedly one of six tracks Rudeboy had submitted for their comeback project in 2021.
The “Reactivated” album, which marked their much-publicized reunion after years of separation, was released in November 2021. Despite high expectations, it failed to make a significant impact commercially. However, the fallout between the brothers continued, leading to accusations of financial mismanagement, among other grievances.
### The Song Theft Allegation
The latest controversy erupted when Mr P posted about the release of “Winning” on his Instagram, promoting the song as his new single. Rudeboy quickly responded, claiming ownership of the song and expressing frustration at his brother for releasing it without permission. He wrote:
“Song title: WINNING; written and sung by RUDEBOY and produced by the same producer. NOW HOW COME?”
Rudeboy elaborated further, revealing that the track was part of the six songs he had submitted for inclusion on the planned P-Square album for 2024, and that it had been intended for his solo project, due to drop in June next year.
He vented on social media:
“Just a simple thing: Bring 6 songs, let me bring 6 songs. I submitted 6 songs to the so-called management. Why re-singing my own song word for word?”
Frustrated by the turn of events, Rudeboy questioned why his brother would copy his song, especially one that was meant to be part of his future album. He also took aim at the producer for allegedly facilitating the situation, writing, “Mr Producer, your case is for another day.”
### A Threat to Release the Original
Rudeboy’s reaction didn’t stop there. In a separate post, he warned both Mr P and the management team about what he described as manipulation in the industry. He threatened to release the original versions of any songs he felt had been stolen or copied. His Instagram story read:
“The days of manipulation are over!! And to the management, make I hear any song wey na only me sing, I go release the original version. Oloriburuku!! Music is not that hard!!”
This fiery outburst signals that Rudeboy is done holding back in the ongoing feud, which has now shifted from financial disputes and managerial disagreements to a battle over creative ownership and song releases.
### A History of Feuds
The ongoing drama between Peter and Paul Okoye has been a rollercoaster for their fans. After dominating the African music scene for over a decade, P-Square disbanded in 2016, citing personal and professional differences. Despite efforts to reconcile, tensions have simmered beneath the surface, with both brothers pursuing solo careers.
Mr P’s solo efforts, including tracks like “Cool It Down” and “For My Head,” have not matched the success of P-Square’s hits, while Rudeboy’s singles such as “Fire Fire” and “Nkenji Keke” have earned him a dedicated following.
The public nature of their conflict—especially as it now includes accusations of song theft—adds another layer of drama to the already complicated relationship between the two brothers.
As the situation develops, fans are left wondering if this is the final chapter for P-Square or if they’ll eventually reconcile once more. However, given Rudeboy’s recent comments, it seems like any hope for peace may be further off than ever before.
