In a surprising and heartfelt gesture, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has teamed up with US singer T-Pain to release a unique version of the iconic 2002 hit “Get Low” by Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz, marking a special anniversary with his wife, Priscilla Chan. The couple, who have been together since 2003 and married in 2012, chose to celebrate their dating anniversary in a deeply personal and creative way.
Zuckerberg shared on Instagram that the song holds special meaning for him and Priscilla, as it was playing the night they first met at a college party. To commemorate their anniversary this year, Mark and T-Pain reimagined the classic track, slowing it down and adding acoustic guitar, turning the song into a mellow, romantic ballad. Zuckerberg, affectionately calling the collaboration “Z-Pain,” even added his own autotuned vocals, much to the amusement and surprise of fans.
The new version of “Get Low” was released as a gift to Priscilla and is now available on Spotify. Zuckerberg posted a heartfelt message along with the song, writing, “’Get Low’ was playing when I first met Priscilla at a college party, so every year we listen to it on our dating anniversary. This year I worked with @tpain on our own version of this lyrical masterpiece. Sound on for the track, and it’s also available on Spotify. Love you, P ❤️.”
While the playful, autotuned rendition may not be for everyone, many social media users have praised the unusual but touching anniversary gesture, with some calling it a true example of “couple goals.”
The collaboration between Zuckerberg and T-Pain is a surprising one, but the two have forged a strong friendship over the years, with Zuckerberg even appearing in one of T-Pain’s Instagram livestreams in May 2021. Earlier this year, T-Pain gifted Zuckerberg a custom “Nappy Boy Meta” chain, and Zuckerberg shared a fun video showing off the new accessory while demonstrating Meta’s new AI technology.
As for T-Pain, his star continues to shine brightly. On Sunday, November 10, the musician was honored by his hometown of Tallahassee, Florida, where Mayor John Dailey presented him with the Keys to the City. In a further tribute, a portion of Pasco Street was renamed “T-Pain Lane,” cementing his legacy as one of Tallahassee’s most beloved figures.
For now, fans of both Zuckerberg and T-Pain can enjoy the surprising anniversary gift on Spotify, proving that sometimes the most unexpected collaborations make for the most memorable moments.
