Erik ten Hag has been relieved of his duties as manager of Manchester United, following a disappointing 2-1 defeat to West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday. The club officially announced his dismissal on Monday.
During his three seasons at the helm, Ten Hag achieved notable success, winning two trophies: the EFL Cup and the FA Cup. However, despite these victories, his tenure was marred by a poor start to the current season, with the team managing only four wins in their first 13 matches across all competitions. This lackluster performance ultimately led to the decision to part ways with the Dutch manager.
In the interim, former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has been appointed as the caretaker manager. He is set to lead the team for their upcoming Carabao Cup match against Leicester City, which will take place at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
