Speaking to a congregation moved by his testimony, Washington expressed gratitude and hope. “It took a while, but I’m finally here,” he shared. “If [God] can do this for me, there’s nothing He can’t do for you. The sky literally is the limit.”

The actor, known for his powerful on-screen roles and off-screen authenticity, made headlines earlier this year with candid remarks about the challenges of discussing faith in Hollywood.

“You can’t talk like that and win Oscars. You can’t talk like that and party,” Washington said in an interview with Esquire. “I don’t care what anyone thinks. When you see me, you see the best I could do with what I’ve been given by my Lord and Savior. I’m unafraid.”

The “Gladiator II” star’s comments highlighted what he perceives as a culture of silence around faith in the entertainment industry, despite its presence among many. “It’s not fashionable. It’s not sexy. But that doesn’t mean people in Hollywood don’t believe,” he affirmed.

Washington’s baptism and new role as a minister mark a milestone in his faith journey, inspiring others with his openness and unwavering belief.
