A Missouri couple has been charged with child abuse after allegedly performing a circumcision on a child at their home without medical authorization. Tyler Wade Gibson and Bailey Alexus Gibson, who have no formal medical training, face charges related to child abuse and performing an unauthorized surgery after the child was sent to the hospital following the procedure.

An affidavit filed in court outlines that Tyler Gibson knowingly performed the circumcision on a minor under the age of 18, despite not being a licensed physician or having the qualifications to perform surgery. The child sustained physical injuries as a result of the procedure.

In a police interview, Tyler Gibson admitted to using a “utility tool” to carry out the circumcision. He also claimed that although he lacked medical expertise, he conducted research beforehand and prayed for a blessing before proceeding with the surgery. The case has raised concerns about unauthorized medical procedures and the safety of minors in unqualified hands.
