Drake has suffered a major loss, both financially and in terms of luck, after placing a $355,000 bet on Mike Tyson to defeat Jake Paul in their highly anticipated boxing match. The rapper’s wager, which he shared on Instagram prior to the fight, ended in disappointment when Tyson was outclassed by Paul, who secured a unanimous decision victory in the eight-round contest at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Friday.

Drake, known for his frequent and high-profile sports bets, had hoped for a Tyson win, which would have netted him a whopping $1 million payout. However, Paul’s dominant performance — marked by superior speed, movement, and an all-around better technique — resulted in Tyson’s third consecutive loss since his return to the ring.

The loss adds to what many fans refer to as the “Drake Curse,” a superstition surrounding the rapper’s betting habits, where athletes and teams Drake supports or wagers on often end up losing. Whether it’s UFC, basketball, or soccer, the “curse” has become a talking point in sports culture, and this latest loss has only fueled the narrative further.

The fight itself, which attracted a crowd of around 65,000 spectators and drew significant media attention, was one of the year’s biggest pay-per-view events. VIP tickets were reported to have fetched up to $2 million, adding to the spectacle. Financially, both fighters are expected to take home substantial payouts, with Paul aiming for a $40 million earnings boost, while Tyson, rumored to have a $20 million purse, is believed to be worth around $10 million. Paul, a YouTuber-turned-boxer, boasts an estimated net worth of $80 million.

Despite the hefty stakes, both fighters have insisted that money isn’t their primary motivation. Paul has been vocal about his desire to prove himself in the boxing world, while Tyson’s return to the sport was more about testing his limits at the age of 58. Nonetheless, the financial side of the event was not lost on fans and observers, especially considering the massive sums at play.

For Drake, the latest loss marks yet another setback in his history of sports betting, but it also adds a new chapter to the ongoing saga of the “Drake Curse.”
