In the video, Jakes, wearing a green baseball cap, sunglasses, and seated in a wheelchair, tearfully expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received. “It didn’t have to end this good. I’m so grateful,” he shared, visibly moved. “I’m grateful to y’all, all the people who prayed, all the people who texted, all the people who had prayer vigils, all the people who were concerned and sent love and sent notes.” The pastor emphasized his thankfulness for the care he received from medical professionals and the community’s prayers.
Jakes, who is the founder and senior pastor of The Potter’s House, thanked God for his intervention and the swift response of the medical team that helped him during the incident. He reassured his followers that although the episode was serious, it was not a stroke. He reflected on the importance of relying on God’s strength, even for those who appear the strongest, and acknowledged the need for rest as a divine gift.
The Potter’s House, which Jakes founded in 1996, now serves about 30,000 members across its main Dallas campus and additional locations in Frisco and Fort Worth.
